What a crazy, rich, intense, fun, scary and satisfying year 2018 was!
As the year came to a close, I have been reflecting on all of the changes that have occurred and how intense it all has been. The one thing I know for sure, after everything, is we have to stay open to changing and to growing, that is where Life is...

Some of you already know that in addition to my passion for bodywork I also love teaching yoga! Yoga has changed my life dramatically and this year I wanted to deepen and expand my yogic knowledge to allow me to help people not only with their physical ailments with postures and bodywork but also with chronic mental and emotional conditions.

2018 was a year of additional yoga training which ultimately lead me to source of yoga, India, particularly Sattva Yoga Academy.
Sattva is located in the foothills of the Himalayas just near Rishikesh, India. My teach Angie Hall is a master teacher at Sattva and for the last couple of weeks of training we traveled there to learn from her teacher, Anand Mehora and experience all of the yoga magic for ourselves... It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.
There is something about India that brings to the surface all of our darkest fears and greatest potentials so that we can choose to face them (or not).  It was an experience that deeply changed me in way that words can't convey...

But enough about me!  This is going to be an exiting year of offerings for you!  I have begun to offer Sattva meditation workshops and Sattva yoga classes.  
I will also be bringing you amazing practitioners like, Hamid Jabbar who will be joining us on February 22nd to offer a sound healing experience!  Hamid has seemingly unlimited knowledge and wisdom to share regarding healing with sound meditation.  

And OF COURSE, I will continue to offer massage therapy services full time as well!  

I hope to see you all this year however if I don't, my wish for you is that it is full of amazing transformations and lots and lots of JOY!!

Dr. Ida P. Rolf's was a Biochemist who developed the Structural Integration method of bodywork -or "Rolfing".  Her studies have
largely influenced the development of the Structural Integration Studio. The concepts practiced and taught both in the bodywork sessions and yoga classes here are based on her studies.
Rolf showed that when the body is in proper alignment with the earths' gravitation force then it has the most available energy to heal itself.  This is not a new wave concept but is actually based on physics and ground reaction force as it relates to Newton's third law: for every action there is an equal an opposite re-action. 
The best and simplest example of how gravity can effect a body and how a body can adjust to the pull of gravity is the Saguaro cactus....

When a Saguaro begins to grow, it grows straight up. This is because it is very close to the earths gravity. However  when the ground is slanted and the force of gravity is no longer directly under it, the cactus will grow "arms" to counter the force of gravity pulling it towards the earth.  This is an innate form of protection to keep it from breaking against the force of gravity.  It will continue to adjust to the imbalances throughout its life and over time we see limbs growing in all kinds of seemingly random and peculiar ways.  
In this way our bodies do the same thing...

As we adjust the way we hold our skeleton to compensate for pain, injury, emotion, disease or genetic deviations our tissues and bones will begin to remodel to help us stay up right.  However this also causes blocks, pain and an increased amount of exertion as more energy is required to move our bodies. As a result we can become sick, tired and emotionally drained which will result in a lack of energy to live life...

The saving grace of all of this is, if the body can be remodeled out of the the structural objective, it can also be remodeled back into the structural objective!
We can do this through bodywork and yoga. We can align the skeletal system with our planets gravitational force.  This will create a body that allows energy to move through it with ease creating an ability to heal and live a  peaceful existence body, mind and spirit.
